Interesting facts about me

Hello, my name is Sweet Caroline. Welcome to my little corner of the world!

Originally from the beautiful Commonwealth of Virginia, I have been a resident of Ontario, Canada since 1996. I don't really feel like I have left "Dixie" as the layout of the city and its people are very much alike. You might say I am returning to my roots as there are so many cities, townships, and counties which are the sister cities of those in Virginia, as well as those in Great Britain--from which their names are derived.

My youthful years were spent on the magnificent shores of the Rappahannock River and the Chesapeake Bay area. Upon graduation from high school, I moved to Richmond where I attended Smithdeal-Massey Business College. All of my adult years were spent in Richmond where I had more than a 25-year career in the field of dentistry. I was the right-arm to the Assistant Dean of Dental Continuing Education, as well as its Alumni Association.

I feel so blessed at having such a wonderful and educational career with one of the top medical research and teaching universities in the country. Not only did I get to know our alumni from all over the USA and the world, but I also was afforded the opportunity to travel to many parts of the world. Traveling had always been a childhood dream of mine; and I discovered that if you truly wanted something badly enough, that dreams do come true.

My two marriages to two of the most beautiful, compassionate, and adoring men in the world were short-lived. Sadly, I lost two adoring husbands and soul mates within 11 years. In spite of the tremendous loss in my life, I still feel blessed that both these men touched my life--even though our time together was all too brief. As both husbands were world travelers in their own careers, I got to travel my favorite parts of Europe, as well as the Far East more extensively.

Since 1991, I have had Fibromyalgia, chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis, Restless Leg Syndrome, Psoriatic Arthritis, and all its related diseases. Where I once was such an energetic and ambitious young lady, I am now very much debilitated. Up until the summer of 2008, at least I was able to enjoy one of my favorite hobbies, as well as a form of mental and physical therapy--gardening. Unfortunately, with the rapid progression of FM and RA, I am no longer able to participate in this so rewarding effort.

I also enjoy playing on my computer and making friends all over the world. This is the one thing which keeps me going these days. Being able to participate in a number of online graphic groups helps me feel like I am still a part of the outside world--even if I no longer can join with my friends in participating in numerous extracurricular activities.

I love desktop publishing; and I am finally beginning to learn Print Shop Pro--a program I've wanted to explore for quite some time now. However, with arthritic hands and the lack of being able to concentrate for more than 10 minutes on anything, I have not been able to accomplish this goal. At least, however, I can enjoy all the beautiful and creative signature tags from such fantastic artists from all over the world. Sharing their God-given talents with all of us worldwide helps to brighten our days far more than they will ever know. I am so thankful for all the hard work and effort each of these individuals puts into their creations, as well as their unselfishly sharing all these lovelies with the rest of the world.

Well, I think I have covered just about "everything you have always wanted to know, but were afraid to ask" about lil ole me. God willing, I hope to spend as much time with all of you wonderful people as my health will permit in the coming days. In the meantime, I wish all of you and your families a summer filled with lots of love, joy, prosperity, and good health. I do enjoy meeting and chatting with people from all over the world; so please do stop and visit with me often.
